Create & Configure Trunks

This article describes how to create and configure trunks in Tegsoft.
By reading this article, you will have information about:
- trunks,
- accessing the trunks menu in Tegsoft,
- basic and advanced setting parameters,
- assigning authorized users to trunk,
- mandatory settings for Basic and Registered Trunk types,
- displaying available trunks.
A trunk, also known as a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunk, is a high-capacity communications line that delivers calls and data from a client location to the Internet. In other words, Trunk is a type of connection that connects your server provider with the Tegsoft software. This article guides you to register your Business Line (SIP Line) to Tegsoft.
1. How to Access the Trunks Menu?
Click on the PBX Management → Trunks tab to access the trunks settings page.
On this page, new trunks can be created, or trunks settings can be customized.
2. Which Settings are in the "Basic Settings" Section?
The following screenshot and table include the setting options (parameters) and their descriptions in the Basic Settings section.
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Name | Name of the created trunk. A meaningful name can be given related to the trunk. |
IP | IP address linked to phone number obtained from service provider. |
From user | Phone number is usually used for this parameter. |
From domain | IP address is usually used for this parameter. |
Username | Username given by the line provider in the use of registered type trunk. |
Password | Password given by the line provider in the use of registered type trunk. |
Cli type | The display name type is selected when transferring the trunk. |
Caller id | Display name when transferring the trunk. |
Display name prefix | Prefix added to display name. |
Early media type | The party that produces the early media is selected. Early media is produced by peer in Peer generated and by Tegsoft in Tegsoft generated. |
Trunk Type | Trunk type is selected. This information is given by the provider. |
Mac | NULL. |
Dtmf mode | DTMF mode is selected. This information is given by the provider. |
Notes | Type your notes. |
Registration string | Username, password, and host are written in syntax (username:password@host) format. |
2. Which Settings are in the "Advanced Settings" Section?
The following screenshot and table include the setting options (parameters) and their descriptions in the Advanced Settings section.
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Can reinvite | Select whether to repeat the invitation or not. |
Log level | Log Level is selected. Usually, the ERROR option is selected. |
Nat | Select whether to use the mapping method of one IP address space into another. |
Qualify | Select whether to activate the accessibility status. |
Security option | Select the security option for the trunk. |
Disable | Select whether the created trunk will be active or not. |
Port | The port number to use for the trunk. |
Auto create peer | Select whether to create an automatic target. |
Network transport layer | Select whether the network transport layer will be active or not. |
Video support | Select whether to provide video support for the created trunk. |
Clipenable | Select whether the clip is active or inactive for the created trunk. |
4. Authorized Users Assignment
In this section, the users who will be authorized for the relevant trunk are assigned. If authorized users need to be selected and assigned to the relevant trunk one by one, the > icon is clicked. If all users are to be assigned to the relevant trunk as authorized at once, the >> icon is clicked.
5. Mandatory Settings for Basic and Registered Trunk Types
Different parameters need to be defined for basic and registered trunk types. These trunk types and their mandatory parameters are detailed below.
➤ Basic Trunk Type
The basic trunk type provides IP-to-IP connection to users.
For basic trunk type, there are two parameters that need to be defined as seen in the screenshot below:
- Name, and
- IP (given by the line provider).
➤ Registered Trunk Type
The registered trunk type provides registered connection to users.
For registered trunk type, there are five parameters that need to be defined as seen in the screenshot below:
- Name,
- IP (given by the line provider),
- Username (given by the line provider),
- Password (given by the line provider), and
- Registration string (username:password@host).
6. How to Display Available Trunks?
After creating the trunk, go to the System Status panel in the Tegsoft to view trunks status. As seen in the screenshot below, you can see available trunks in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Additionally, the IP address of the trunk you created is displayed in the Enabled IP section of the Server Settings page, as seen in the screenshot below.
