What is WinSCP?
WinSCP (Windows Secure Copy) is a free and open-source SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and secure copy protocol (SCP) client for Microsoft Windows. Its main function is secure file transfer between a local computer and a remote server.
This utility software is used to copy the patch (update) file to the server when performing manual updates on servers without UI access in Tegsoft software.
How to Install WinSCP?
Please follow the steps below to install the WinSCP on your computer and connect to your server.
- Download the WinSCP software and install it onto your computer.
WinSCP can be downloaded free of charge from https://winscp.net/eng/download.php.
If you need assistance about installation, you can follow WinSCP’s step-by-step installation guide. - Start WinSCP.
- On the Login window given below;
➤ Click New Session.
➤ Select SFTP from the FileProtocol drop-down menu.
➤ Enter your Hostname as Remote System IP Address or FQDN (Full Qualified Domain Name).
➤ Select your Port number.
➤ Enter your User name as root.
➤ Enter your root Password.
➤ Click Login. - Once you’re connected to your server, the left panel will show the local files and folders on your computer and the right panel will show the remote files and folders as seen below.
How to Upload a File with WinSCP?
You can simply drag the local files and drop them on remote file panel to upload as seen below.
WinSCP will display following information about the upload process that is about to be completed. Change the upload settings or click on OK to proceed with that.How to Download a File with WinSCP?
